The Newcomers Spring Educational Event:
Frank Lloyd Wright: The Man/The Architecture
May 12 from 2:00-4:00pm

Registration Opens April 12
Registration Cost $5.00
Frank Lloyd Wright has been called the greatest American architect of all time. He often said so himself.
He compared himself to Michelangelo. He was a romantic intellectual who was opinionated, eccentric and arrogant. He was an author, philosopher, teacher and lover of fast cars, custom-made clothes and intelligent women.
This lecture will focus on Wright’s colorful life and his philosophy of organic architecture. We will review how his architecture connects us to nature, highlighting his designs of homes, churches and civic buildings including Fallingwater and the Guggenheim Museum.

Speaker's Bio: Peter Blaufeux AIA Emeritus, is an architect with a diverse career spanning twenty years as the principal of his own architectural design firm, later becoming Director of Healthcare Design for the New York region of a multinational corporation. Peter has earned many awards for his innovative designs. His passion for architectural history, particularly the works of Frank Lloyd Wright, has led him to share this as an educator, teaching courses on Wright's legacy at OLLI at Duke and NC State. Aside from architecture, he is also actively engaged in the arts, with a particular interest in theater and directing plays.
We hope you can join us as we explore the fascinating life (1867-1959) and work of America's most influential architect, designer, writer and educator who designed and completed 532 structures during a 70-year career.
Note regarding Parking: Jewish for Good is just across the street from the building used by OLLI. There should be ample parking either in front or on the side of the main building.
