The Library Book by
Susan Orlean

Susan Orlean chronicles the devastating fire that raged for 7 hours in the Los Angeles Public Library, destroying 700,000 books and damaging 400,000 more. From the jumping-off point, she goes backward in time, sharing the colorful characters from the library’s early days, and forward to bring all the departments of today’s library into vivid detail.

Orlean takes us behind the scenes of the LA library system, and talks about the challenges librarians face, from acquisitions to living in the digital age of information. More than you ever knew you wanted to know about libraries and books!

Limited to 15 participants.
